Alec Baldwin Shares Update on Rust Charges Dismissal

Instagram Post Expresses Gratitude

Background

Following the recent news that prosecutors in the Rust case are dropping charges, Alec Baldwin posted a photo of himself and his wife Hilaria on Instagram. The post, which has garnered over 16,000 likes and 1,700 comments, was accompanied by a lengthy caption expressing his gratitude to all who have supported him during this challenging time.

Baldwin's Message

"Let me preface this by stating that I have never and will never pawn my wife off as Spanish," Baldwin wrote. "The origin of this was a joke between me and my wife regarding the fact that her name was Spanish but she was born in Boston. The joke was that we would create this fictitious heritage for her to make her more relatable. I apologize if this was not clear and I take full responsibility for any confusion that this may have caused."

Baldwin also shared a post from a Rust crew member, denying reports of unsafe conditions on set. The post included a statement from the crew member, who said, "We feel deeply that the prosecution of Mr. Baldwin is not only unnecessary, but will also have a chilling effect on filmmakers everywhere."

Return to Social Media

Baldwin's return to social media comes after it was announced last week that he was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The charge carries a potential sentence of 18 months in prison.

Despite the challenges he is facing, Baldwin expressed his appreciation for the support he has received from friends, family, and colleagues. "I am truly grateful for the love and support I have received from my family, friends, and colleagues," he wrote. "I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I am determined to clear my name and restore my reputation."
