Crowdstrike Windows 11

Massive Windows outage caused by faulty CrowdStrike update

Millions of computers affected

A faulty software update issued by security giant CrowdStrike has resulted in a massive overnight outage that's affected Windows computers. The update, which was intended to patch a critical vulnerability, has instead caused a variety of problems, including blue screens of death (BSoDs), boot loops, and application crashes.

How to fix the problem

If you're experiencing problems with your Windows computer after installing the CrowdStrike update, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue.

  • Restart your computer. This may seem like a simple solution, but it can often fix minor problems.
  • Uninstall the CrowdStrike update. You can do this by going to the Control Panel and selecting "Programs and Features." Find the CrowdStrike update in the list of installed programs and click "Uninstall."
  • Boot your computer into Safe Mode. This will start your computer with only the essential drivers and programs loaded. To boot into Safe Mode, press the F8 key repeatedly during the boot process.
  • Restore your computer to a previous restore point. This will revert your computer to a previous state, before the CrowdStrike update was installed. To restore your computer to a previous restore point, go to the Control Panel and select "System and Security." Click on "System Restore" and follow the instructions.

If you're still experiencing problems after trying these steps, you can contact CrowdStrike for support.
