Dengue Fever Outbreaks: A Global Health Crisis

Millions Infected Amidst Rising Threat

Unveiling the Alarming Statistics and Impact of Dengue

Dengue fever, a viral infection spread through mosquito bites, has become a global health crisis. With nearly half of the world's population now at risk, dengue poses a significant threat to human health.

As of April 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported over 76 million dengue cases worldwide, including 34 million confirmed cases. This staggering number highlights the widespread impact of this disease and its alarming spread.

Dengue transmission is known to be cyclic, with large outbreaks occurring every 3-4 years. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, transmission levels have remained moderate. This relative lull has now been replaced by an explosion of cases, particularly in Latin America, where roughly 47 million people have been infected in 2024.
